Frazer’s Gift

20” x 24 1/4” x 2 1/2”

(SOLD)

This piece was created by using the title, panels and captions pulled from 27 different comic books to tell a story of a couple searching for their new forever home.

There are rare moments when I'll edit the words in panels and it's when it’s a noun or proper noun. This one required only the name change (to Nancy) in one panel and one noun modification (from cat to dog).

It was so much fun building this piece for them. The serendipity started by finding a title that matched the owner’s last name. But it didn’t stop there. When I presented the work in progress, I'd learned that a few panels and narratives were an accurate account of events, such as the lack of a doorbell and the timing of the house offer. It was exciting to show them the panel of their dog (named Hubble) jumping out of a rocket. What are the chances I'd find something like this? What's even more surprising is that it matched their dog’s spots. To top it all off, the featured model couldn't look more like its new owner.
