Welcome to Parasites #139

48” x 36” x 5”

(SOLD)

This was a commission piece and they requested the topic be on access to clean drinking water.

Before the 1948 the Federal Water Pollution Control Act was enacted industrial waste was contaminating local wells, rivers, freshwater lakes and our oceans, causing preventable diseases such as Cholera, Dysentery, Typhoid, Polio, Hep A & B and other waterborne diseases.

Water-borne illnesses are featured as vintage travel postcards. The sky has Cumulus Nimbus, Lenticular and Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds, all commonly seen in a Florida sky.

While I intentionally added references to the new owner’s home state and current state of residence, what I didn’t know until I presented this work, is that the owner used to vacation at Cypress Gardens as a child. Also, I didn’t know that her mother, often mistaken as Annette Funicello in her teen years, later became the president of Annette’s fan club.

Materials: MDO, Vintage TV, Mixed Media, Photo Transfer
