Come See Me At “The Other Art Fair” in Los Angeles - Sept 25-28

In late July, I submitted my work to an art publication, and by early August, I was a bit shocked to discover that I was featured in a beautiful four-page Q&A in Art Seen Magazine. It wasn’t until I’d read through the entire magazine that I realized the editor had included a sweet, little quote about me in her introduction.

Editor’s Introduction

I’ve done a few of these Q&As before, and often the questions are pretty generic. They don’t always lead to meaningful or inspired answers. But this editor was different. She asked thoughtful questions that were specific to my work, and that made a big difference. It gave me a chance to reflect more deeply on what the hell I’m doing! These aren’t answers I could have given earlier in my art career, because I didn’t yet have the body of work to see the emerging patterns or themes. So I’m really grateful for the opportunity to share my perspective in this way.

Here’s one of the questions from the publication.

After such a great experience at last April’s StARTup Art Fair in San Francisco, I decided to submit to The Other Art Fair in Los Angeles. With over 500 applicants and only 150 artists accepted, I’m pretty happy to have been selected.

I’m both excited and admittedly a bit anxious about the upcoming show. I’ll debut new pieces from my Comic Book Series and Appliance Series at this show.

Julie
